The daily loss limit on Daily Payouts, and what happens if you hit it three times

Your limit by account size, what a soft breach does, and why the third hit inside 30 days closes the account.

A daily loss limit applies to Daily Payouts in both the evaluation and the funded phase. It is the most you may lose in a single trading day.

What happens when you hit it

Your open positions are closed and trading is paused for the rest of the day. The account is not closed and nothing is deducted. You can trade again in the next session.

That is a soft breach, and it works the same way as on our other plans.

The third hit is different

If you hit the daily loss limit three times within any rolling 30 day period, the third hit is treated as a hard breach and your account is closed.

On EOD, 1-Day-Pass-Plan, Flex and Instant Classic, hitting the daily loss limit is always a soft breach with no strike count.

Instant Lite also closes the account on a third hit. The difference is the window: Daily Payouts counts hits inside a rolling 30 day period, so old hits drop off, while Instant Lite counts three hits over the life of the account.

How the rolling 30 days works

It is a rolling window, not a calendar month. Every hit stays on the count for 30 days from the day it happened, then drops off.

Example: You hit the limit on 3 March and again on 20 March. On 1 April you have one hit still counting, because the 3 March hit has rolled off. A hit on 1 April would be your second, not your third.

Where can I see my count?

Your dashboard shows how many daily loss limit hits you have in the current rolling 30 day window.

Why the rule exists

The daily loss limit is there to stop a single bad session ending an account. A trader who hits it repeatedly inside a month is not having one bad session, they are running a risk profile the account cannot support. The strike rule ends that before it reaches the maximum drawdown.

Can I remove the daily loss limit?

Not at the moment. Daily Payouts accounts are sold with the daily loss limit enabled.
